It's for free, and we would like to have a contact for our network in each country as soon as possible
If you share the goals of the International Charter for Walking (see About us), you may become a member of IFP.
There are two types of members:
Voting members of IFP are organisations and institutions independent from political parties and whose primary or most important activities correspond with the goals of IFP. As for now, we welcome local pedestrian associations as well as national ones as voting members. (The board can restrict the number of member organisations of one country which are voting members.) Organisations that deal with pedestrian issues only as a minor part of their activity (e.g. bicycle and environment organisations) should become associated members.
For more details see the membership conditions:

Associate members are any other organisations, institutions, and individuals who share IFP’s goals, and wish to support its work in any way. They receive information but have no duties or obligations, except for not being active against the goals of IFP.
This is how you become a member:
If you would like to join, please download the following Membership Application Form, fill it in, and mail it to:

IFP does not collect membership fees.
How to Create a New Voting Member
IFP members are voting members only if there is an organisation (usually an association) that names a person to vote on behalf of the group. If you want to be a voting member you should become Founder of a new pedestrian group. That is not a diffcult thing to do if you have a network of friends and other people interested in walking. The Pedestrian Association of New Zealand Living Streets Aotearoa (link) has published a brochure with lots of ideas on how to go about to create a new group. Here it is:
GUIDELINES FOR NEW WALKING USER GROUPS (pdf / 261.5 KB)
Moreover, there is a description of how the Pedestrian Association of New Zealand has developed. May be this will encourage you to become Founder of a National Organisation. There are still more than a hundred countries that don't have a pedestrian organisation!

IFP is a network of experts and other persons and institutions interested in improving the situation of pedestrians. You may profit from the knowledge of others. Ask any question, and we shall try to find an adequate answer among our members.
